The Chamber Clipper evidently began publication May 1986 as the very first

paragraph states “Welcome Aboard the maiden voyage of of the Chamber of Commerce

of Milton Delaware, Inc., 'Chamber Clipper;' “ . The Clipper is the first Milton newspaper

since the “Towncrier” of Tom Hughes and it says “our paper will contain only news and

local Milton items of interest.” Charles Fleetwod wrote all of this.

The page goes on to say the 'Clipper' is sponsered by the chmbers business members.

John Starr, Jr., Shockley & Reed grocery owner , suggested we try 'it ' out.

A committee was formed , members were contacted and ads were committed. Ruth

Post did the design, correspondence was gathered from the religious , civic and sports

groups around Miton, and the Chamber Clipper set sail.

The news paper will aspire to keep 'you' informed of community happenings, upcoming

events and facts about the towns citizens.

Thanks to the chamber members, group correspondents, and sponsors , so please when out

shopping, tell them “I saw it in the clipper”.
