MILTON MEMORIAL PARK 1986

MILTON MEMORIAL PARK

At their May 1983 meeting, Milton Town Council , voted to built a park,

which will be just off Chandler Street, behind the Union Stret buildings, the library and

civic center, a bit down river from the Union Street Broadkill River bridge. You might

say at the Head of the Broadkill if you so wish.

A schematic by a landscape architect was accepted at the June 1983 council meeting.

Meetings with town citizens and community organizations have brought in cash

donations, materials, volunteer labor and equipment. The plot of land has been cleaned

of an old building, unwanted trees and briars, some new trees have been set out and a

walkway from Union Street between the library and civic center, is open. Expect a enter

sign very soon.

A Toddler Area is real, equipped with play equipment , the Lions have furnished 2 0

wooden picnic tables, and a balance of over $8000 are on hand.

Help is still needed,, clean fill dirt and top soil too, and volunteers to do the labor.
